Kathmandu Valley is a 7-day trek on which you can enjoy nature with spectacular mountain views. This trek will take you through the dense green hills and culturally rich local villages. Although this is one of the short and easy treks near Kathmandu city, it is very rewarding and perfect for those who are short on time or have difficulty trekking to higher elevations.
The trek will begin after a night at the hotel and a 30-40 minutes drive to Sundarijal. You will walk along uphill stairs alongside the gushing Bagmati river towards Shivapuri National Park. A permit is required to enter the park. After trekking for about 5 hours, you will reach Chisapani, where you can rest and take in the panoramic view of the Langtang range. Your destination for the next day is Nagarkot, known for dazzling sunrises and sunsets. At an elevation of 2,175m, this famous overlook offers a picturesque view of the Himalayan massifs, such as Annapurna (8,091m), Dorje Lakpa (6,966m), and Langtang (7,227m).
After resting, you will start hiking to Dhulikhel the next morning right after enjoying a view of the sunrise. Surrounded by a lush green forest, Dhulikhel is a vibrant cultural town with ancient alleys and buildings that are still intact. You will visit the age-old Newar settlements, and Devisthan temple, and indulge in the adventurous zip-lining over the high hills (not included in the package). The next day, you will hike to Namobuddha at an elevation of 1,750m. The colossal monastery named Thrangu Tashi Yangtse beams with beauty and offers a walk inside the monastery.
After Namobuddha, you will be hiking to Panauti, which is a small historical Newari town. Walking through the paddy fields and small villages, you finally reach Panauti. Here, you can visit Durbar square, and Indreshwar temple, and explore the ancient Newari village, which is filled with rich culture and traditions. Your trek ends as you return to Kathmandu from Panauti. On your last day, you will either head toward the airport or you can continue traveling to other destinations.
