Manaslu region is nestled in the historic kingdom of Gurkha, located around the north-central part of the country. This area has only been open to trekking since the late '90s, but many of its parts remain restricted. Manaslu derived from the Sanskrit word "Manasa" which translates to "mountain of spirits."

At 8,193m, Manaslu is the eighth-highest mountain in the world. If you look towards the horizon where the mountains are visible, the northernmost dominant peak is the Manaslu. With distinguished geographical charisma, this region is a perfect trekking destination. The earthquake in 2015 devastated a majority of what was built for trekking in this region. However, with the efforts of the local people and government, Manaslu is once again ready to welcome travelers to its mystical lands. 

Manaslu region holds enthralling landscapes, panoramic vistas of grand mountains, colorful forests, diverse floras and faunas, and several rural ethnic communities. Trekking in Manaslu is a splendid opportunity to witness the Himalayan atmosphere and its untouched natural opulence. There is also the cultural ethos that uplifts the region's appeal.

The valleys comprise villages such as Soti Khola, Dovan, and Dharamsala, where you meet tribes of Buddhist and Hindu influences. While the off-beaten trails give you an authentic adventure, the landscapes around you provide excellent views. The historic salt trade route traverses alongside the Budi Gandaki River, which flows through this region.

One of the major highlights of this region is the Larkya La Pass. A journey to this pass gives you amazing sceneries of the valley below and the mountains above.
